Gland packing is shaft sealing and is used to seal a rotating shaft on valves, (piston) pumps and mixers. The standard package consists of packing made from materials including ramie fibres, aramid, PTFE, graphite and carbon yarns, either impregnated or not with substances such as PTFE, to increase chemical resistance.
